today is my dad’s birthday, so here’s one of my favorite stories of his: i can’t remember what year he said this was in (if i had to guess, it was late 80s/early 90s), but he was at an outdoor metallica concert. he had taken this tie dye shirt off and stuck it in his pocket. when he got back to the pit from going to the bathroom, he realized a guy he had bumped into had taken it from his pocket - he was NOT happy. then, “one” started playing, and a mosh pit formed. he took his friend, jim, by the forearms and quite literally started spinning in circles (his feet were completely off the ground and all); they were just clotheslining people left and right. once everything calmed back down, he saw the guy with his shirt and immediately went up to him, and the guy didn’t even put up a fight. he saw the absolute menace he was in the pit, told him it was a cool shirt, and gave it back. he still has the shirt today (except the arms were cut off of it quite some time ago). whenever i drew him as a little kid, he would be wearing that shirt.

so fun fact me and my dad went to the same university 30 years apart, and when i left home my dad gifted me all of his old t-shirts from his freshers weeks and his extrav (the university’s post-exam party week). not only a bit of history but also just a great baggy fit and a sweet design

This has strengthened our relationship so much and his lore is always insane. Dads always be doing the most random shit, but no one ever asks them about it. Since i've been asking my dad more about his day to day he gets so excited to tell me about all of the random things he's trying and learning. It's precious.
