sometimes i don’t wanna carry a book if i don’t wanna be carrying too much, but i still want to have something with me that can stimulate my brain that isn’t my phone. and you don’t even have to always be writing in it – you can draw, read what it is you’ve written so far, or even use it as a little scrapbook to collect the day’s memories! and for some extra fun, you should decorate your notebook with whatever feels good to you, like stickers, markers, pastels, a little collage… anything!

got a set of pocket sized moleskine cahier journals, one of which i use to write down reminders, small thoughts, test out new pens, doodle, etc etc etc. it has no explicit purpose other than to be a place i can write anything down whenever and wherever. an analog notes app if you will..

It's basically just an analog notes app, but it's something separate from your phone that allows for a little more disconnection from technology. Plus, it's tangible. So you can have a visual representation of the amount of thoughts or ideas that you've had over time. You'll have a collection of mini books that you can go back through and see where your mind has been. I'm about to finish my third little guy, and it's fun to have a collection of pages that represents my ingenuity and reminds me of memories I've forgotten. Sometimes I make myself laugh when I go back through or I contemplate something I said or I disagree with a comment I made a while back, or I feel inspired to rehash something I'd written. Today I went back through and found a drawing I don't remember doing. I found a short grocery list from who knows when. I found a bunch of ideas I want to go back to. I found these comments too: "A vape is sitting on the subway seat next to me. Should I hit it and see what happens?" and "I'm on the six early in the morning and just watched a homeless man light another homeless man's crack pipe. Sharing is caring."

I got a great deal on a gigging kit from a retired guy who refurbishes kits as a hobby. Thomas, I wish you well :)

I recently bought some nice stationary to write letters (I already had a pen and some ink I love). I just sent out my first one and it felt really good. Something about the scratch of the pen on paper, then sending the only copy of my words to someone close to me really hits. I recommend double checking that the envelopes you buy are large enough for the stationary though…
