skylarking is definitively a summer album but i’m not done with it yet. stunning work of art with insane lore (the pitchfork article about the todd rundgren / andy partridge hate-fueled creative process that birthed this record is my rec within a rec)
just discovered Jane removers side project venturing. idk if there could’ve been a better time to discover this album, right in the middle of a thunderstorm. this album currently has me so happy despite how grim it is. when I say grim it is fucking grim and gloomy but holy shit it’s so good. i havent been this excited for an album in a long time except for Alex gs upcoming album. the song something has to change had me tearing up. if you haven’t, go check it out asap.
they have that easy listen to too folk rock indie sound with surprising soul crushing songs like Hawke's "Therese", "Over", and "Mermaid Bar" and Waterhouse's, "Model, actress, whatever" and "everybody breaks up anyway"
do yourself a favor and give it a listen
this album is, to me, nearly flawless front to back. it turns 20 this year and feels easily like something that could’ve been released in the past couple of months
first listened to it all the way through after hearing subzero fun at the river nyc last summer and it’s become a fav ever since ♥️
returning to PI after a wedding planning induced hiatus… everything they say is true. you feel like you’re on drugs bc it’s like unlocking a new level of happiness, it goes by in 12 seconds, you’ll have the hugest emotional hangover of your life for a week, it is the most fun a girl can have. hugely recommend yall consider doing this!
a few times a month i wake up in a cold sweat and absolutely have to list all of the top 200 metro areas in the US and also every country in the world or i'll die
