imo understanding why/how I kept collecting random stuff helped me focus only on what I had; if I wanted to buy smthn but it had NO PRACTICAL USE or smthn I owned ALREADY FULFILLED THE PURPOSE it‘s not getting bought 🤷‍♀️

many may disagree with me but what i mean is : if you’re gonna buy things, use your things consume the things you choose to purchase.. i only say this as i have hoarder tendencies and i feel guilty when a candle runs out, but i have to remember; that is what it is meant for

For me this is mostly books and antiques but I think it is a versatile mindset

I'm still trying to practice what I preach here. Capitalism makes it pretty hard; they want to keep us buying things so instant pleasure and gratification is marketed and thrown at us everywhere, and makes us feel like to be accepted in society, we must always have the latest "thing." But I've started to realize nothing deeply good can come easy, or cheap for that matter. It feels way more satisfying to know I've purchased something of quality, something that means something to me, something that'll last, rather than a cheap fad that'll have to be replaced soon anyway. Not to mention knowing and caring WHERE your money is going (small businesses over large corporations, looking into what the company stands for.) There are so many times I've told myself I can't afford something I really want and am drawn to, when I've realized how much I've spent on stupid little cheap things that don't matter to me. For yourself, for others, for the planet, spend INTENTIONALLY. And if that means you end up owning less, good! And while you're at it, do a bit of Marie Condo-ing (but please, donate what you can for christ's sake.) You might experience a little withdraw with the lack of stuff and lack of spending, but I think overall you'll feel lighter, freer and more satisfied!

I have to disagree with the people who say that we need to “stay” and “fight“ for IG to be a better platform because in actuality, it’s our presence and engagement that gives them data, and therefore money. As long as they have those 2 things, they make their bottom line and won’t really care about its users desires unless they’re making a move for the optics. If we REALLY want to hold them accountable, we need to impact the money they make, which means permanently deleting or marking your account as inactive & never coming back. They’ll only care if they’re bleeding money— so make them bleed.

Every piece I wear has some sort of sentimental story backed behind it (my bracelets/rings/necklaces/some of my earrings). For me, wearing sentimental jewelry serves 3 purposes: 1) Bringing life to pieces that have been given to me with love 2) Carrying my loved ones wherever I go 3) Prevented me from making impulsive jewelry purchases (because fast fashion jewelry doesn't feel the same way a gift does) Ig the only exceptions I make in fast fashion jewelry is earrings, but only bc I need boring earrings for corporate-wear lol
