Honestly just a 1000/10. Animal-human friendship, hot cook (Colette, not Linguini u freak), the fake french accents?????????
also it made all the kids love rats and vegetables so it's like public service.
it reminds me of my childhood, my relationship with my little sister, the wonder and whimsy of nature and the limitless feeling your imagination gives you when youāre a kid. studio ghibli is unmatched vibes!!! porco rosso and nausicaa are also faves. my sister and i mustāve watched hoodwinked a hundred times over when we were little, the soundtrack?!? ICONIC!!!
this is just one of those pieces of lost media from childhood thats randomly stored in my brain next to disney channel bumpers and skits from ānow, a word from us kids!ā itās from a croatian animated feature called Lapitch the Little Shoemaker and i really think the visual style and music holds up. they truly did not have to go so hard for a cartoon about a mouse that went straight to VHS and barely anyone would see but THEY DID šš«¶š¼
maybe youāve seen it, but in an entirely opposite vibe, thereās the kingdom of shadows scene in la bayadĆØre that iām very fond off, as it shows the beauty of what you can do with ballet onstage. slow music, amazing control from the dancers, and you feel like youāre hallucinating when all the shadows move together (thatās actually kinda the point, the prince is on opioids to mend his grieving heart)
This ~15 min ballet is a real feat. Over the past few months Iāve become very interested in Ballet, and If Iām being honest, the interest is bordering on obsession. I came across Allegro Brillante performed by Tiler Peck and Andrew Veyette on YouTube recently and my amazement has yet to wear off. The first time I watched it, I double checked that the speed wasnāt set to 1.5x because I just couldnāt believe my eyes.
