I love nothing more than wizzing past a pond on the train and catching a two second glance of a heron, or spotting buzzards circling above the motorway from my cosy little megabus seat

Nothing like a walk and a bird watch. Birds are such magically beautiful animals. I like focussing on watching what they are doing in an unmeasured, unscientific manner (that is one that is not about tracking or writing the features of the bird). Here’s a white faced heron I found in a pond looking at its own reflection at uni today.

because this is the summer of hobbymaxxing i went birding for the first time today and it was so relaxing! a great way to get out and truly appreciate nature in all of its glory. i used to be afraid of birds but i found myself awestruck by the natural beauty and grace they exude.
if youre anything like me and have been consciously trying to reduce screen time/phone use, birding is a great activity because (1) youre outside and (2) youre actively searching for birds with your group!
check your local parks and rec for opportunities!!
