Arrival, Call Me By Your Name, The Shape of Water, Shirley. He‘s been in so many of my favourite films that he became like a sign of a film I’ll love. its less about wanting to see him act (although he is good) and more about how much I feel I trust his (or his agent’s) taste in choosing films.
some of my favorite movies ever were made by him in the 60s, absolute mood pieces. seen la notte (pictured) more times than I’d care to admit. the passenger with jack nicholson is also sublime.
This man does not miss. His movies are reliably and consistently high-quality stuff. His range is impressive - from sci-fi, horror, romance, period drama…he kills it all the time. Brilliant, brilliant.
I am by no means traditionally religious, but I fully understand how being in the presence of beautiful stained glass can feel like being with god. ALWAYS stop off at a church on the way if you think it might have good stained glass. The bluebells in the bottom right corner of this made me loose my breath for a moment.
I used to be envious of people who had “MySpace friends” or “tumblr friends”. Now I have PI.FYI friends. Thank you capyboppy for your lovely letter and this illustration of a capybara and a mouse with fruit on our heads, it made me weirdly emotional ❤️
