When I'm going on a drive or doing something where music is kind of 'secondary', I usually just let the streaming service make one of those auto playlists. However, I tend to generate the playlists off of specific songs. So I guess these ones are my main 'intentional' picks: * Suffer - Vision of Disorder * Cheat Death - Bent Life * Tape - Chat Pile * Hornet's Nest - Power Trip * REPULSIVE IN ITS SPLENDID BEAUTY - Crowbar * Funkier Than a Mosquito's Tweeter - Nina Simone * Lady Day and John Coltrane - Gil Scott-Heron * H.O.O.D - KNEECAP I probably have a bunch more but those are the first ones to come to mind!

If I don't know what to do, or know exactly what I need to do but must (the must is essential here) procrastinate, I'd discover music for hours on end until I get tired and call it a successful day. Time passes in like no time (haha) when I do my weekly deep dive into what's new or what's old - whatever it is, as long as it makes me think "fuck i really should have found this sooner." or a simple "i like this." It's my extremely aware subconscious forcing me to spend hours finding 'my song of the week' - I swear. This list is just the representation of exactly what kind of sound I'm fixated on currently. o Unicorn - bel canto o Smiling in Slow Motion - Mike Midnight o Paradise Circus - Massive Attack, Hope Sandoval o Boyracer - Hysterical Love Project o St Magdalene's Wood - Kelora I'm keeping this list short. I realized the music deep dive will return especially because it's prime time (after midnight).

It's far too easy for me to burn a few hours digging through Wikipedia hyperlinks and trawling through yards of text. It's a very fun way to gain cursory knowledge about possibly obscure topics, and you can find some pretty bizarre stuff if you know where to look.

I'm admittedly a sucker for a local paper, and that increases tenfold when it shines light on otherwise underreported stories through a progressive lens. In Gainesville, this manifests in The Gainesville Iguana. You can find them at pretty much any record store, library, etc... for free!!!! The ads also expose you to local establishments and groups you might otherwise not have known about. There's a sense of community that emanates from the paper that you don't get in any of your other standard publications.

It can give new perspective on what's actually around you. A lot of the time, the veil of the windshield and fiberglass can keep the outside world as more of a backdrop instead of a lived-in space.
