Itâs funny being alive in the early rubbish days of AI.
Listened to my Wrapped Ai podcast on Spotify and got to experience my artificially-generated bodyless soulless âhostâ chuckle and say âI can just imagine you strutting down the street listening to the BRAT albumâ
Lmao.
So I live in the UK but my Spotify account is Indian cause itâs cheaper for an annual premium plan in my home country and we donât have the Spotify AI DJ feature in India probably cause of the 20+ish languages we have but itâs SO funny to see everyone talk about how bad the AI DJ is.
Like, itâs only playing the songs in your liked playlist on shuffle with a robot voice. Thatâs it. Nothing revolutionary.
Any Spotify engineers on this app, please feel free to correct me if Iâm wrong.
honestly wild. its a series of 6 episodes which follow ratliffâs experiment of trying to have an AI replace him as he does daily tasks like calling friends, doing meetings, and even going to therapy⊠consider my boots shakenâŠ
First-Ballot Hall of Fame podcast. Stories about the indie music scene of the early 2000s, the tech-blog glory days, and walking across Europe. My favorite âgenreâ of podcasts is whatever you call long form conversations between people with great chemistry and good understanding of the medium. Merlin and John, to my brain, are the best at that.
From episode 01 ("Keep Moving and Get Out of the Way") they were already making what would be gems of P.I. Recs. At the same time, I struggle to recommend it. John and Merlin have been recording their weekly conversations since September 2011, 12.5 years ago. 1/8 of a century ago.
Is this how Star Trek / Doctor Who fans feel when they see the emptiness in my eyes as they begin explaining how the show peaked on its 17th season but the ride is worth it? Still, one of my absolute favorite things in life.

November 28th, 2023: 'An Ecological Technology â A Conversation with James Bridle' episode. On broadening our understandings of 'intelligence' to be less human-centric & re-thinking our relationship to the AI we have created. Discussions on the importance of context and valuing non-human life.
i sense the most reliable path to true contentment and fulfilment in this life may be found by focusing not on âwhat will make me happyâ but on âhow can I be useful to those I love and my communityâ.... the two are by no means mutually exclusive and i believe the first can only ever be found through the second.
