so i’m a pattern cutter & sewing machinist by trade, and i used to be a professional yoyoer. i also have some expertise in carpentry & metalwork these all work for me because they require a lot of focus and i’m using my hands constantly. i think it’s something about having to be focused for safety reasons with all these that keeps me locked in, and finishing stuff is rewarding bc it was in your brain and now you can hold it or use it. that’s a high i chase too but i don’t do as well with things that are more abstract or digital because i just get distracted and stop caring

I already do this when I can, but if I was truly analog, i’d be crafting. jack of all trades, master of none: - crocheting - painting(nails or canvas with acrylic) - making jewelry - printmaking - quilting (big fan of improv quilting) - drawing - pottery/clay work - bookbinding/scrapbooking/collaging

my day job is pattern cutter and when i’m not thinking about clothes i usually am thinking about one of these things i got into cooking with my friend collin the first time i lived in paris we’d collaborate a lot on meals, and even more after i stopped eating meat. been getting back into it lately after taking time away due to being too busy, living in a small french city and not eating meat means cooking is essential basketball, got into it from my dad and loved it ever since i was a kid. have become a pretty hardcore nerd atp, none of my irl friends really like it much but im deep on twitter with it, really beautiful game when played certain ways. no longer play much at all but love to watch and talk about it parents are huge tennis freaks both watching and playing, i rejected it when i was younger because it was kinda forced on me but now i really enjoy watching it for reasons i can’t explain. much more of a casual fan than basketball though. i want to get into playing sooner than later though, looks fun yo-yos, i was a professional when i was younger, got into it bc a kid on my course in middle school was into it, so a bunch of other people in my school started too and i was the one who never stopped. was competitive for a few years but yoyo is more like art than sport in that once you’re into it the best tricks are hard to quantify and are more a matter of opinion + dependent on specific execution kinda like skateboarding. it was also my introduction to design through understanding how size/width and weight distribution and shit made a yo-yo play a certain way. i’ve been off and on for like 12 years now but i still do it for fun by myself since covid and post tricks on instagram.com/rapbeefinstigator
-baking & cake decorating is probably my main one(I also do it to an extent for work too) -sewing; all my clothes are either made, upcycled, or tailored by me -painting though I’m not the best at it but it’s relaxing -needlefelting it’s really accessible and relaxing. I take it with me to cafes and such for something to do with my hands and it’s a good conversation starter. I like to give random people free keychains and trinkets I make -music; I love to write songs and I play guitar and banjo, also taking voice lessons at the moment -”photography” I like to take Polaroids of my friends and things and decorate them with stickers and doodles -vintage doll and toy collecting I have too many things -cosmetics; love makeup too much and doing people’s hair -fashion; between making stuff, studying old runway shows, and learning whatever history I can

leaves you susceptible to dating someone for too long because they play a role rather than it being about who they are. if you go in open to every situation, it will play out as its supposed to naturally (sometimes with a little nudge)
