Ok this is a deep cut from my personal collection... I would lay my life down for Trusted Housesitters - you can find free accommodations in almost every city and country with a little forethought and some sleuthing. You can book from a weekend to several months.. All you do is sign up to watch someone's pet! I've stayed in some GORGEOUS houses. Some more remote stays include a car. It runs about $150 a year with a referral link - there are higher subscription tiers that insure for cancellation. Don’t let Air BnB rob U.🌵

I’ve had hosts make me dinner, buy me groceries, leave firewood, loan me their gym / metro passes… plus you get a little friend to keep you company while you’re on vacation. Plus they usually leave local recs for their city / neighborhood. It’s the best thing I ever paid for

I bought a membership so I could travel places and basically have accommodations for free (membership is ~115/yr so if you use it for even just a few nights you've gotten your $$ worth). You just have to be careful about finding house/pet sits that are not going to require you to be at the house all the time/limit your enjoyment of wherever you're traveling. Works best if your travel date/location is flexible

VRBO also. If you search up the name of the property company or find the owners social media page/website you can book from them directly and save yourself like 30% on fees and such. Its how I score fat deals on my trips. but don't tell anyone, my friends wont have a reason to invite me on the trips if they know how to do it themselves

I'm no financial advisor, and my dad might actually murder me for recommending this (apparently you're supposed to pay for things using money you already have?) (weird!), but Priceline accepts Affirm, so you can pay for flights in installments. After getting a little drunk watching 'Mamma Mia' and crying on the airplane (my favorite activity, bar none) last January, I booked a vacation for Greece that I just paid off liiike this month. Smart? Not sure. Responsible? Who's to say?! But if you know you'll be able to afford $169/month for the next like year of your life and you don't mind the occasional overdraft, it def makes international traveling -- specifically, sitting on an island drinking cocktails brought to you by a very hot Greek waiter who says "that's sad" when you say you're there alone-- more accessible.
