Stay in homes around the world in exchange for house/pet sitting, or get house/pet sitters in exchange for lodging--you pay an annual fee to access the listings and then travel as much as you want through the year. I used to pay hundreds of dollars every time I had to travel on cat sitters who would come 40 minutes a day, now I pay that once a year and get cat sitters & places to stay when I travel. My partner and I are going to SF next month for a week and we're paying $0 on hotels/airbnbs bc we'll be cat sitting, and we'll have a cat sitter from THS here while we're gone. It's the best.

Love TH so much! Worth it alone for the connection to a great Boston sit who just hits me up 2X per year now.

@CHRONICWEBUSER lol every sitter has ratings from previous sits & referrals, and you can meet them in person or over video call beforehand to make sure they aren't weirdos. I've had 6-7 cat sitters through THS in the last 2 years and we've never had any treasures ransacked and our cats are doing great, got lots of love & attention while we were gone!

I bought a membership so I could travel places and basically have accommodations for free (membership is ~115/yr so if you use it for even just a few nights you've gotten your $$ worth). You just have to be careful about finding house/pet sits that are not going to require you to be at the house all the time/limit your enjoyment of wherever you're traveling. Works best if your travel date/location is flexible

Ok this is a deep cut from my personal collection... I would lay my life down for Trusted Housesitters - you can find free accommodations in almost every city and country with a little forethought and some sleuthing. You can book from a weekend to several months.. All you do is sign up to watch someone's pet! I've stayed in some GORGEOUS houses. Some more remote stays include a car. It runs about $150 a year with a referral link - there are higher subscription tiers that insure for cancellation. Don’t let Air BnB rob U.🌡

HotelTonight is an app where you can book hotels for cheaper prices last minute. I love staying in hotels, especially ones with crown molding. I used to use it way more, basically pathologically, because I lived in a tenement building and am a frivolous and impulsive person. I like my apartment now, but every once in a while I’ll fire it up if I just need to get away from it all, or there are too many clothes on top of my bed and I don’t want to sleep under them or push them onto the floor and make my life harder. During the pandemme the hotels were so cheap, but as you can imagine there has been steady decline in the hospitality industry, due to the economy ( Still, its nice to sleep in a king size bed and watch Shark Tank on TV.

Our ancient interspecies partners, now orphaned in exile. Have you ever seen a pigeon nest? They need us. We will need them. How are you going to send letters to your best friend when society collapses? Better get a pigeon now and start training. I'm partial to the classic Rock Dove style but look at their range! So many colors, shapes, frills. On the way home from the allergist this morning I saw three pigeons bathing in a dirty puddle. They're just out here scraping by like the rest of us.

I'm so tired of everything being on my phone. Give me something to hold. Give me a tangible memento. These were for a gift, but now I'll do it for every show I go to.
