There have been multiple Christmas albums issued with Louis Armstrongās music, such as āLouis Wishes you a Cool Yuleā and āElla & Louis Christmasā (Which, Ella released her own Christmas album: āElla Wishes you A Swinging Christmasā). If you like something a bit faster, Charlie Parker did a rendition of White Christmas which you can find on YouTube easily. The Niels JĆørgen Steen Quintet recorded the album āBebop Christmas.ā If Jazz is not your thing thereās also albums like the Jackson 5ās Christmas Album (bass galore- at least on what I heard of it) and if you want something more general but in that ballpark thereās a Motown Christmas compilation album.
i always start listening right around thanksgiving. my favorite albums are "a charlie brown christmas" and "charlie brown's holiday hits." absolute fav track is probably skating. i love that puts a little bounce in my step and makes finals season a little less scary :,) imo nobody can be unhappy while they're listening to some playful jazz. (bonus: snoopy)
Earlier jazz may fit this bill well. Check out the New Orleans Rhythm Kings. Iām actually listing to some of their work right now, and I can envision it fitting this vibe. You may also like the work of Ruth Ettings for early vocal work. In terms of later work, you may find Ella Fitzgeraldās work with Joe Pass good for this. Scott LaFaroās and Fats Navarroās work too. For perhaps deeper cuts: Richard āGrooveā Holmesā album āLiving Soul,ā as well as the work of Don Byas.
Sometimes, if my cat really wants my attention, heāll grab my leg loosely and bite me, where it hurts for a bit but leaves no mark nor blood. Itās not quite fun- but I think it serves a meaningful place in life
