If you know me, you know I love Hippo Campus. Their latest album, Flood, is a testament to their strength as unit and as friends. Leading up to the album’s release, almost every single band member said something about how proud they were of the song Madman. They have every right to be. Madman is bouncy, energetic, fun, and lively. I fell in love with it on the first listen. It feels like true Hippo Campus—indie rock roots, candid lyricism, and a constant desire to experiment. I cannot wait to hear this song live on their 2025 US tour.

hammy nation rise up, they’ve done it again. i really respect that theyve consistently put out music that’s untouched by trends, especially within the emo/pop punk/whatever scene. eric’s lyrics on these ones are especially biting i love it. great follow up to their last album, i can’t wait for more!
if you haven’t checked out heart attack man, you haaaave to if you’re a fan of punk pop/rock in the last 20 years. it’s like. pop punk written by hardcore guys. their live shows are amazing too, the energy from the band and crowd is always raw fun. i’m a real big fan especially of their last album freak of nature, but my fave is their ep thoughtz & prayerz

This is my favorite album of 2021 and there was A LOT of good music released this year IMO. Literally every song is a banger. Stallions and Dummo Loop are probs two of the best songs I have ever heard but literally all of them are good. There really hasn’t been a day that’s gone by where I haven’t listened to at least one of the tracks on this record since it was released. I’m lucky to know and call the three that make up this boyband my friends and am grateful I have gotten to experience some of the most demented (in the fun way) times of my life with them in the past few years (eZoo, holy shipwrecked in the DR, 2 weeks straight of shows without stopping, etc). For real tho, I just finished a small east coast tour with them and my other fave boy band, Anamanaguchi (who's album [USA] (2019) is also very much worth checking out) in October and the energy they brought every day and night to the van and the stage was inspiring and exciting. If u ever have the chance to see them do a live set or a DJ set I highly recommend u go. I’m a huuuge wavedash stan and u should be too!

houses are supposed to be a place of comfort, but gothic stories subvert this. the feeling of the uncanny occurs when the familiar becomes unfamiliar- for example, scary and unsettling things going on in the home, which should be a place of refuge. the haunting of hill house is a great gothic haunted house example !
