This magical soup calls for a can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup and a small jar of Diced Jalapeños. Put the soup on the stove and stir in as many spoonfuls of jalapeños as you can handle. And then double that amount. It will be hot. You will be snotty. It will be delicious. It will be spicy. By the end of it, your sinuses will be clear, your body will be warm, and at the very least you, will have felt to have achieved something even in your sickness.

I’ve been sick for a couple of days and I made a big pot of chicken soup. Some veggies, a rotisserie chicken, some egg noodles ~chefs kiss~ add a little turmeric and ginger for an extra boost for your red stuffy nose

aka matzo ball soup. a big, toothsome, fatty hunk of salty carbohydrate mush swimming in hot schmaltzy broth. the good stuff will also have egg noodles and celery and carrots. lot of imposters out there but the best used to be at carnegie deli. i'm sick right now and i wish i had a gallon of that. pure ambrosia.

This is for your rich aunt, your designer bag friend, the boyfriend's parents in law you want to impress but don't know how. What money can't buy, the right brain can make. This recipe calls for: (1) thoughtful gift (1) custom spin For example: When my friend turned 20 she already had everything I could possibly give her. A drawer full of her favorite candles. A line up of expensive perfumes she stands by. Internet access and her parents' credit card. What doesn't she have? My right brain. My ability to craft the perfect set of 10x12 drink posters with witty cocktail names and an easy-to-follow ingredient list. Each element was chock-full of inside jokes from my personal quote list of our most debaucherous nights. Other ideas: a custom candle, a photobook of your favorite memories. My sister's go-to: hand-crocheted ornaments (Bonus points if it's mini figures of them or their pet). Sure, these may take more time to craft than logging into Amazon and clicking through the "Gift Guide for Her" brochure. But if you're still on an hourly wage, think to yourself: Would you rather spend an hour on Canva or the equivalent of 4 hours of work for a coffee table book whose spine will never be cracked?

On a crisp (quite cold) sunny morning in Cambridge, my friend Peyton and I stopped by a Sunday market with a variety of different vendors. I was sold this coat by a lovely lady selling dozens of vintage coats-- after having just mentioned to my friend that I missed my "Narnia Jacket," a deep purple fur jacket I had in the first grade. I tried it on and knew I had to buy it. It kept me warm through the chilly streets of London, even on nights out when I hadn't much under. Special mentions: The cleaner across the street from my flat in Islington that took the stains and of sulfur off it after a joyous trip to Reykjavik. For £10. Also, the cat card holder I got from that same market. His eyes are stained and baggy now, so I'm on the hunt for something new.
