Always floored by the beauty of this mysterious scene, part of an imaginary musical sequence that takes place in the future of the film/present day of the filmmakers… I wanna know how they managed to get metres and metres of fabric to move like that it’s a stunning

The songs, the dream ballet, Cyd Charisse's green dress, Donald O'Connor's performance of Make 'Em Laugh, Gene Kelly doing one of the most iconic scenes in cinematic history with a fever, Debbie Reynolds emerging out of a big cake, this film has it all. IMDb has a lot of fascinating facts about this film and it sounded like a terrible project to work on but wow what a film

In college I was a musical hater, in a blind blanketed statement these movies were not for me. Singin in the Rain then changed my life. Many of my favorite movies I watch initially to a mixed feeling or review, but am pulled back to for some strange reason, with this reason normally being it is destined to be one of my favorite movies! Filled with joy around every corner, Singin’ in the Rain is a movie of its time. Colorful and happy as ever, Gene Kelly proceeds to tap dance for half the run time and it’s perfect. Ugh it’s truly timeless!!! Side note: I think that tap dance needs to be brought back. One of the most sexy masculine things ever used to be Gene Kelly tap dancing. Why can’t we bring this back!!! Normalize tap dancing please it looks so cool and fun.

i sense the most reliable path to true contentment and fulfilment in this life may be found by focusing not on ‘what will make me happy’ but on ‘how can I be useful to those I love and my community’.... the two are by no means mutually exclusive and i believe the first can only ever be found through the second.
