my parents are both from this small town which is home to the world’s largest statue of an otter, Otto. I would see him every time we would visit, he’s featured heavily in my childhood photos.

I used to always say elephants and I’m still fascinated by them but river otters are the one animal form I would take if I had the chance. They’re so sleek and glorious! Also they spend a way higher percentage of their time playing than many other animals!! They even make slides on rocks in rivers 😭 I want to gambol away my days with them! *i know the emoji is a sea otter!! Justice for my sleek river boys*

they’re just the cutest animals ever to grace the earth. they’re so rambunctious and silly and sweet and the way they swim is so satisfying. i look at them and i smile with a joy i don’t know if i’ve ever felt at any other moment in life

this summer, we’re starting yoga, we’re learning a new language (being bilingual is now the standard, you need to know at least three to be truly chic), we’re going to concerts just because the tickets were cheap, we’re going to museums (especially the weird ones), hitting up the local library to ask for new recommendations, whether it’s a surprise or based on past tastes, we’re painting, collecting and collaging, sewing and embroidering our clothes, re-learning the harmonica, playing chess with strangers online and at the café, we’re taking up tennis and pretending it’s not just because of challengers. the only way to find what brings you joy is to try.

money can’t buy taste, but it can apparently buy press coverage for your fiancée (now wife) in almost every major magazine and news outlet however, maybe the famine of beauty amongst today’s tech billionaires will lead some people on social media to get a hobby other than trying to look rich, maybe they’ll even develop class consciousness while they’re at it photo courtesy of Jerry Saltz, art critic at New York Magazine
