such a great way to find new music/artists if you’re looking to expand your palette. i’ve found so much great music from all over the world. It’s music curated by people, which is so much better than the algorithm spotify has been feeding me lately imo. It’s great, it’s really great. And don’t get me wrong, i still ride for spotify. NTS radio is my wave at the moment though, it’s similar to bandcamp weekly if you’re familiar with that too

Independent radio, searching youtube by playlist, Bandcamp. Discogs + soulseek

NTS and Do You Radio are two of my daily listens — NTS has a tracklist function too + a huge archive of mixes. Searching a favourite track on YouTube and then filtering by playlist is also really fun. Takes a little scrolling. Discogs and bandcamp are both marketplaces I often dip into for some discovery. Both have user-made lists. Discogs you can go down great rabbit holes by digging into a particular artist/musician/producer’s entire body of work. Bandcamp good for new grassroots music. Soulseek if you don’t mind a little piracy is also great. You can browse people’s entire music libraries. Some are really thoughtfully organised. There’s something oddly endearing about getting an impression for who someone is simply going off how they’ve organised their music and what they have.

- spotify afterplay radio. pretty good still though worse than it once was - NTS radio. my fav - having friends with good taste send you shit or tell you to listen to shit - going to the discog of an artist you like and listening to an album you haven’t checked before, especially artists new to you - my dad is old and has incredible taste in 60’s-80’s stuff so he’ll send me shit randomly or i’ll ask him

LISTENING TO YOUR DISCOVER WEEKLY PLAYLIST

one of the few good things left about spotify. it’s helped me discover so much great music, a lot of which have become very influential for me. and of course there will be some awful songs on there but the more consistent you are with it, the better overall quality you seem to get weekly.
