I’ve been in a similar predicament :-) I deleted the app on my phone, it still gives me the option to look up insta on my laptop but it’s not available all the time for useless scrolling — which is the reason why I deleted it.
And on top of that there is an app called ScreenZen (I’m sure there are more) where you can limit your app usage (I have it set on 3 times a day for tumblr and reddit for example) and it’s working really well for me! Can only recommend!!
I know I can't shake instagram for good, i'm not that strong, but I deleted the app and only go on the browser when I really feel like I need to be on it. makes it a much less desirable experience and I spend way less time on my phone in general
or whichever app is your go-to for numbing! currently reading the new Dean Spade (love in a fucked up world) and felt soooo moved by the 2nd chapter on patterns of behavior that we use to numb/dissociate (such as repeatedly opening an app/scrolling it with no intention) anytime i delete the app off my phone im amazed at how much free time and attention it feels like i have to share.
been using ScreenZen to limit my time on Instagram. when I want to be on there I’ve been going on here or Pinterest instead. one step closer to deleting Instagram altogether 🧘🏻♀️
