it’s a haunted house story told from the perspectives of a husband and wife dealing with a tough transition. it’s got this fascinating and unsettling mystery and the relationship between the couple is so well written. technically a horror novel but i’d say it’s more creepy than scary. definitely one of my favorites of all time!

this is a short book with a collection of short stories, where each story had a theme of 'something unwelcome in the home'. it helped a lot with getting me back into reading after not reading for fun in years (due to school + having adhd). some of the critiques on this book are from 1) many things being left unsaid/unexplained and 2) it wasn't 'scary enough'. so i think you'd have a better experience if you're okay with mysterious endings or you prefer to read books that are more 'subtly' eerie.

insane medieval horror. kept me up because it was so harrowing and gross but also so so gripping. i literally emailed the author afterwards because it was so good

short horror novella about a group of friends who decide to spend the night in an old Japanese mansion. Pretty creepy atmosphere and imagery. Overall a very enjoyable little novel that got me out of a slump after Christmas.

my chameleon died this morning and i buried him in my mom’s backyard. i had a lot of ladders in his cage, he seemed to really like to zip around on em. it was hard to see him lose mobility in his old age, but i like to remember him as a climber. rest in peace mr. princess
