Have you considered, instead of just going to an event, hosting one or starting one and then flyering it like crazy, and seeing who comes? Base it on an interest!

Or door knocking if you’re up for it! My job is based around helping neighbors organize and do community projects and one of the biggest helps is just making some flyers to gauge interest and get people together for a meeting! (And it’s fun to create something cute to pass around)
But be sure to include a google survey, or a phone number/email to contact so you can organize everyone to get together!

im also not great at this but like i look on insta or eventbrite and start following a whole bunch of like queer night groups or zine clubs etc. like think of your interests and look for stuff around that ik ppl also look on apps like bumble bff

What's the thing that you love to do, could totally nerd out on, monologue about — or that hobby you want to start or pick back up?
Decide to start a group or a club or a discussion coffee afternoon, and then staple up signs for it, post about it, invite people
Maybe it'll turn out to be a dud and no one will show or maybe you'll have to persevere for awhile
Maybe even the process of you putting yourself out there will create a magnetism and you'll make some friends in the process

Sometimes, if my cat really wants my attention, he‘ll grab my leg loosely and bite me, where it hurts for a bit but leaves no mark nor blood. It’s not quite fun- but I think it serves a meaningful place in life
