probably the most relaxing horror movie ever. a coastal town is slowly engulfed by a mysterious and potentially murderous fog between midnight and 1 am... the fog's movements are tracked and relayed to the entire town by a radio show host who runs her show from the town's lighthouse. 'this is steve wayne, your nightlight, around until about one o'clock...'. this movie made me seriously want to buy a small lighthouse someday and host a radio show from there from midnight until one. idk, maybe i can start from my room and just imagine the sea while accepting listener submissions and hearing whatever people have to say to the world at midnight. i love john carpenter.

My dad loved horror movies - not many actually Scared him. After seeing this in theaters he told me he had to turn on all the lights when he got home. I just saw it for the first time and while I loved it I wouldn’t say this is a Scary Movie. It’s more so a story about ghosts that almost feels like a gothic fairytale. Nicole Kidman is insanely good in it. The way she can lose her grip on reality while still maintaining her humanity is heartbreaking. SO, highly recommend watching especially on a foggy/stormy night. And make sure to lock that door behind you thx love u so much xoxo4evr

I tell people allll the time this is the best 1970s sweeping horror epic about evil in a small town. Think Salem’s Lot but with a more verbose and literary style. Great entry point into modern gothic and classic gothic horror. Such a cozy vibe I find myself rereading it sometimes in winter!! You’ll enjoy it if you like Joyce Carol Oates’s work. The movie is awful and I wish they would rework this into a modern adaptation… perhaps a television series since there‘s so much material

i decided to spend my birthday last year in patagonia because i wanted to go on an adventure and see beautiful things. the initial plan was to go to antarctica but that didn’t work out so i decided to go to as close to the end of the world as i could. it’s really one of those trips that make you believe in the glorious mysteries of life. exploring the wilderness while listening to black marble’s ‘it’s immaterial’ was wonderful.

this website plays songs while showing us the most poignant comments people left in their respective youtube comment section. it's so wonderfully nostalgic. "autumn sweater - yo la tengo: acid. fetal position. yes, this will do."
