Took my first Portuguese class today after months of Duolingo. It was really scary at first but once you realise everyone in the room is at the same level it feels really good to lock in and stop being scared of making mistakes. Plus I made two new friends already I never would have met otherwise! My brain feels like it's had a really good workout.
It was great. I grew up in a huge social housing area, there used to be 10+ of us playing street games after school in the evenings. I played PC games on my Dell PC and fell in love with more and more music by downloading random songs on Limewire. By the time mp3 players came into my life, sites to convert YouTube videos into mp3 became my most visited. I watched Sunday evening movies on tv that I had seen would be playing because I read the Tv Magazine earlier in the week. Me and my best friend would have competitions dancing on a dance mat she got for Christmas or sing karaoke on SingStar. By 2008 for Ā£3 I could by 10 cigarettes for me and my friends. A great time to grow up.
Fuck the classics, unless that's what you ACTUALLY want to read. Read erotic novels, books only written by Real Housewives or just the paper. Just read, your aging brain will thank you.
