lost music listening time, gained quality conversation lost at love, gained someone infinitely more kind lost familiarity and comfort, gained new experiences and confidence lost my car, gained the pleasure of long walks lost my friends, gained people who accept me no matter what losing is all part of life, you can’t get anywhere or gain anything by being stationary. failure is a beautiful part of the journey of becoming yourself :)

My friends and I started saying this so much as a bit in high school that it actually became a very powerful mantra for all of us. It’s a good reminder that there will be better days ahead when things are tough, and to appreciate life when things are going well.

I've been in one of those rare seasons where you can actually see how the difficulty of it is forming you in deep, character-building ways yeah, it's been confusing and miserable at times, but—wow—what a time of preparation and resetting and reorienting hard things don't always lead to growth, but I've found that striving for a posture of humility, curiosity, and love amidst the trials makes those seasons more likely to bear fruit

have so much to say about this; for brevity-sake, ill say that every challenge and pleasure you experience is meant to be observed, sometimes examined, to check-in about how you’re evolving in the process of being your best self. success is ambiguous and subjective, it’s whatever it means to you, but for me it’s to be fully myself, take care and have a nice time. when a shit thing happens or i don’t get my way i’ve come to see it as a blessing and purposeful, and i ask myself what i could possibly learn from it. there’s always a thing to learn, even if it’s mere acceptance. it’s saved my mental life, i tell ya that sometimes you think you’ve ‘passed a test’ but the situation is a ‘pop quiz’ in a different format: how you perform on that assessment is not meant to trick you but to check in on your progress and maybe illuminate areas that still need your attention, something else to learn because the timing and scenario is different. it’s beautiful.
