I canāt express enough how beautiful this country was and how much I highly recommend doing the thing youāve always wanted to. I stayed for just over a month, because if staying in an apartment there for a month was less than a big city in the United States, why not? I went everywhere from La Spezia, Cinque Terre (Corniglia pictured), Florence, Rome, Pisa, Lucca, Milan, etc. Take the trip, life is too short!!

This was my first trip out of the country once I got my green card. My wife and I wandered the streets safely, ate more carbs than we should have while losing weight (???), looked at art and buildings that were around when Rome was still running gladiator battles, and met strangers for drinks at a bar and stayed there for 6 hours talking about life. Truly my fave trip. We did Florence and Rome andā¦errrrā¦I forget the name but itās the place with all the islands. 10/10 trip. Reach out if you need any recs.

This is my #1 recommendation when helping plan Italy trips for friends. True, there are some beautiful sights to behold if you climb the ghastly hills with the hordes of tourists-mostly honeymooners which bum out married and single people alike. But I promise there are so many other Insta-worthy spots where you wonāt have to risk major motion sickness getting there only to spend ā¬40 for the worst ālemonā risotto (also donāt eat risotto south of Florence).
Go to the volcanic islands of Ischia and Procida (picture below of Procida- where the houses are actually colorful!) Go to the Ionian and Adriatic beaches in Puglia! Go to the caves of Matera! There are national parks that look like Colorado but you can eat the best and cheapest pizza while youāre there! The most wonderful people and places can be found in this country but NOT in Positano with the couple from Nassau County guzzling cappuccinos.

So we all think itās sketchy that Tik Tok is already back right? And that they posted a statement kissing Trumpās ass and making him out to be the one saving Tik Tok when he isnāt even sworn in yet? And now Trump wants the US government to have a 50% ownership, aka turning Tik Tok into state owned media just like I thought was happening. And Iām sure most people wonāt be able to stay away from Tik Tok and Meta which is so disappointing. I want nothing to do with Tik Tok now because I know the app as we knew it is already gone at this point.

Thereās something about the quality of digital camera photos that make a picture of anything you take look more pleasing (to me anyway). The nostalgia, the saturation, I love them. I have a couple cameras that still work from when I was a kid, but I also bought one on eBay that was similar to one that used to be a favorite of mine. I just throw it in my purse and take it everywhere, and itās so much more fun than trying to get the āperfect shot,ā especially now that Iāve deleted Meta and gone with Pixelfed it seems that people love posting anything from the little things they see or their drinks. Itās making photo sharing fun again! Although, if you do download Pixelfed (which isnāt the point of this post but) I highly recommend using it in your browser on your phone for now, theyāve already made things run smoother from when I first downloaded but theyāre definitely still working on the app.

Iāve already read 48 books in 2025 while being on my flip phone, social media detox life. Yes, some of them were just trashy romance, but still. Itās been so nice to get back into reading for enjoyment again. Itās nice to be out and about and not have that constant urge to reach for a phone and check notifications.
I donāt even have most social media apps downloaded on this anymore, I love this app though, and the urge to click on an app and doom-scroll is nonexistent. This brick of technology has really turned into my iPod and Kindle, and the occasional pop back on here.
