Not the most recent bc this was before the Russian invasion of Ukraine but I had some time off work and rewatched the HBO series and then watched every piece of media I could find on it and then got obsessed with how radiation effects the human body and now I have iodine pills because you simply never know. We should honestly be spending so much more energy and money on figuring out how to handle nuclear waste instead of stupid shit like banning tik tok and killing each other for dominance :(
every other solution (utility-scale battery storage, green hydrogen, AI-directed forecasting and load management, microgrids/'virtual power plants', CCUS, direct air capture, redundant solar/wind overcapacity, massive degrowth) is a refusal to directly engage with the core problem... real young invert fans know that the only way to survive the 21st century is through ambitious permitting reform that incentivizes nuclear, geothermal, and hydroelectric deployment
WW3 is unlikely to happen due to the fact that full scale global war isn’t really possible with the existence of nuclear weaponry. That’s why global superpowers such as the US are much more likely to insert themselves into smaller proxy wars or use third parties (such as multinational corporations) in order to gain power. So realistically there won’t be a WW3 but that doesn’t discount the fact that the current state of political affairs is not looking good.
