i just started reading the waves by Virginia Woolf and i made a playlist based on the general vibe the book gives off to me — not too specific it’s a one song flows into the next thing (not meant to be shuffled) and its meant to kind of be about slow sensory experiences

Perfect for small, off-beat breaks in whatever playlist mood you're going for. The added bonus of eerie-sounding posh accents by older poets is always a treat. I recommend W.H. Auden's "The More Loving One" and anything by Virgina Woolf (OK, not a poet technically, but have you read The Waves? It's better than 80% of 'actual' poetry, really.)

I like to make playlists based on certain vibes or music that I like at the moment, but recently ive really enjoyed the idea of a playlist encapsulating the idea of a beach vacation with not just the parts where youre at the beach but the whole experience of being outside and free? I have another that I really liked listening to while painting, its kind of a mess but it really helps with the creative process https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6TTzJmzf8vxwsG43ARiU0E?si=d4f2ed4482c744dd

all the versions are so beautiful and each add their own little thing — i knew the this mortal coil version first bc i love anything 4AD (and was recently reintroduced to it in David Lynch’s lost highway) and from the credits of the movie i learned that tim buckley wrote the original which ive been listening to a lot recently his voice is so calming. also the 070 shake version is wonderful and so like everything the song was meant to be & petrichor was my AOTY

I need to read before bed or my head just keeps thinking in circles. something about the texture of ink on paper with a warm reading light.
In pre-21st century movies and media, we always see couples that go to bed, independently read their books, and once sleepy, clap off the lights and peacefully retire to sleep. Maybe there’s a reason this trope is so common! Maybe couples who read together, sleep together!! Reading before bed regulates my brain and body in ways I did not know were possible. Screens are bad for you, specifically and especially before bedtime… who knew! And with a good nights sleep I have so much energy to do things, including but not limited to more reading.
