Emma has long been one of my favourite Austins, and although the adaptation is not the most faithful to the source material (looking at you Harriet and Jane Fairfax), it remains my favourite adaptation too. I find that a lot of the time when Austen is translated onto the screen directors forget to include her humour, and this film does an excellent job of capturing the comedy in the story whilst still creating the classic romantic Austen feel. Visually the film is also amazingly done; the costuming is spot on, and there are so many absolutely stunning shots peppered through the film! Overall I would say this version of Emma does a great job of capturing the humanity in the story, and provides a perfect contended viewing experience. :)
