One of my major high school jams repeats the lyric “perfectly imperfect” and it’s all I can ever think of when I see this site Warning: scary!!! But also ethereal

This is one of those songs that I consider perfect and also tragic. This is a song that reminds me that we are made up of all of the people we met along the way. Little pieces of everyone we met shape us !!!!

I caught a cold earlier this week and decided to ignore its subtle, yet deleterious and lingering effects on my body. On the fourth day (yesterday), after high-intensity training and taking two capsules of psilocybin, I decided to drive to the local café to put in some more work. I’d been listening to this song all day—my head was rolling. If there was ever a moment that I’d felt closer to damnation, it was when I walked into the building and wished for complete annihilation. This isn’t anything new—I’ve experienced these episodes on and off since I was a child. But something about this particular bout made me realize I should be grateful, judge less, and have mercy. I called loved ones to tell them how sorry I was for words I’d said and actions I committed that may have hurt them—almost as a final act of salvation before my ultimate oblivion. I met Lucifer at the bleeding edge, shrieked into the void—with one last gesture of love, forgiveness, and meaning—and anchored myself back to earth. — This song is something potent!

there is something so cool about this unspoken juxtaposition rule in the more psychologically volatile genres, where the lyrics are bleak and anxious, always tapping into darker territory, but the melody remains beautiful and oddly comforting. i have been re-looping lots of carissa’s wierd - songs about leaving lately, and now this thought refuses to leave me alone. idk!!!! it’s just such a common case where something viscerally crushing happens to produce the most tender and fragile sounds, and i know it is a bit of a cornplate-level observation, but i have been pondering a lot about this

Still gonna be a Letterboxd guy first and foremost – sorry! – so I have to be true to myself and share my most recent five star discovery, this failed NBC pilot from 1991. Lookwell is pure comedy heaven, not a wasted joke in its short runtime, with Adam West’s self aware turn on Family Guy done here first but better. Special bonus: a major role from TÁR director Todd Field?? Perhaps we wouldn’t have either that film or Conan’s classic Late Night run if this had actually been picked up to series, though this is so perfect it’s hard not to wonder what a few seasons would have been like…but at least we’ll always have this.
