something about it...it's just so strong. i think a good poem follows emily dickinson's rule - "tell the truth, but tell it slant." - but telling the truth slant sometimes means you lose directness and urgency. i think angela jackson manages to walk the line between slant and direct really well

there is a certain slant of light - emily dickinson
i'm a real sentimental, nostalgic person so the idea of finding meaning in the winter sun or being moved by the way the light falls is very familar. (the analysis i wrote on this poem made my literature teacher cry)
