I have the mental illness where if I go on eBay or reddit and see deals on broken laptops, used GPU’s and film cameras, I must buy them. Buying broken/as-is means nothing if you know how to fix them. The Goodwill by me has blessed me with 3 mechanical keyboards complete with Dorito dust encrusted keys. 2 of them I flipped after I cleaned & tested them and made a cool $50 from that. Vinyl I only just started collecting like idk a year ago? The most recent vinyl record I got was the GTA Vice City Flash FM soundtrack

neat !!! it's super fulfilling to get something that so many people look over and flip it and turn it into something useable again. I've thought about trying the same thing but with furniture from facebook marketplace since people basically give things away that sometimes just need cleaned and a new wood stain and they're good as new

soulful_old_man_sunshine man most of my furniture I either found or got for free. No joke found a Herman Miller Aeron size C chair in a dumpster at work and I don’t think I’m ever gonna top that

wakeuplmd that's crazy, definitely a great find!! it's wild what people just throw away but I'll never be mad because then it can get to people like us instead lol. it's not thrifted however I'm going to be fixing up this 1920's-1930's armoire from my grandparents' house and I'm super excited for it. I love that era of interior design and I get to flip what my grandpa was using as a gun cabinet (lol) into something I can use for my crochet supplies or whatever I eventually decide to use it for

bought a 70s reel-to-reel tape machine at Goodwill for 25 bucks. Turns out it’s literally the same exact model that Richard Nixon recorded the Watergate tapes on. So naturally I’ll be recording indie rock on it. I’m still getting it up and running again so #watch this space

I’ve amassed a decent collection this way and most are only minorly scratched. I either judge by the cover or pick out composers I’m interested in. Listen to them in the morning while having breakfast and feel invigorated !

Just going out and picking up any kind of used physical media (books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes) makes the archivist in me happy, like I’m preserving somebody else’s story/ enjoyment of something My personal favorite thing is VHS tapes, I’ve got a decent collection (all thrifted) and they’re usually the cheapest things offered

Everything in your life does not have to be subscription based, and subscription does not equate a service being good. If I’m paying $24.99 a month to watch Netflix in 4K UHD, I should expect to see what I pay for, not subpar playback latency, low bitrate streams, many app crashes, and overall looking terrible on anything that isn’t a 4K display. Remember when you could buy things and own them, like, forever? There is a better world out there past Netflix, Hulu, Spotify and Amazon Prime.

You don’t have to tell everyone everything in/about your life, especially online, in today’s online yet frequently data-breached world. Like the great Christopher Wallace once said: Keep your family and business completely separated

I have a near-Biblical dislike of Allbirds shoes and every other Tim Cook Jeff Bezos Middle-aged Balding Pickleball coach ass shoe out there for convincing the public that these were in any way cool. No dude, you look like a loser with these. They look bland and lifeless, like they were concocted in the same boardroom that made the flat graphic design trend that Meta and Google love so much. Hell, even notorious ip-infringer Skechers makes better looking shoes than these. They don’t even feel good to wear. They have no soul or personality and yet some people swear by them. Who are these shoes for?
