recent mental health booster I stumbled onto when my phone ended up dead one morning, so I went to a cafe near me to journal/read for a couple hours without it. there were so many times I phantom reached for my it like the addict I am, very glad I couldn’t that day or else stupid things would have been done. I was forced to sit in the moment and process my thoughts without being able to actively do anything or contact anyone. did it the next day purposely and I had such a good day. leave your phone at home sometimes when you’re bumming around your area doing small errands! also forces you to learn your surroundings rather than relying on google maps.

Left my phone at home yesterday before running errands/going to hang out with friends. shit was actually such a good mistake. I was icking myself out because my boyfriend and I were walking my dog and the entire time I was walking with a firm grip on my phone. It was a totally unnecessary item in that moment. I had no one I needed to call at that specific time, no reason really for it to be on my person. Yet I couldn’t not bring it. I left it at home on accident the second time we left, and it was actually so freeing. my anxiety was so calmed because I didn’t feel obligated to be doing anything besides living in the moment/being present. Ended up walking to the store, caught a movie with friends, and hung out with them after. It felt like I was back in middle/high school when plans with your friends kind of just happened because not even everyone had cell phones then. Idk it was just a really chill time and so I highly recommend leaving your phone at home if it’s not a complete necessity. you might be surprised to find you really don’t need to have it 24/7

upgrade from stashing it in your bag! No quick access, no thoughts connected to it. Give ur brain back to your body! Just turned off my phone for 1.5 hours with a journal and crayons in a beautiful green space in the front of a museum. I wrote two stories and drew some faces and watched people laugh and fight and saw a baby chase a bird and listened to my thoughts It was great

i once broke my phone and due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn’t able to get a new one for a couple weeks so I was forced to take time without it, and to be honest, it was beautiful! its nice to say “ah my phone wasn’t on me / my phone was broken so I couldn’t respond.“ since then I’ve done some time intentionally leaving my phone at home when I leave to have a bit of solace and experience the world around me for a moment without needing headphones in or checking notifications constantly. great stuff!!

cant 100% take credit, read this on pinterest years ago. when you start a journal, get a photo of you with the journal (I use instax photos but you can use the canon printer or print the photo etc) and paste it onto the first page, before the ruled lines. then when you finish the journal, take another photo with the journal and paste it on the last page. it’s a snapshot of you and your words at the beginning and end of its journey :)
