(I only know how to do this on iPhone sorry) Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Color Filters There’s some psychology science that colours draw you into things, help you get stuck in the loop of social media. I’ve been cleaning up my phone use habits and this one has by far been the biggest thing after deleting social media from my phone!

Small thing that’s just helped me spend less time on my phone is switching everything to grayscale so it’s less fun to look at and it’s helped a lot. Makes my phone feel more like a tool and not an extension of my body. it’s somewhere in the accessibility menu on iPhone

If you’re on an iPhone go to settings>accessibility>display and text size>color filters>on and tap on black and white. So much of it is lizard brain being engaged by bright colors so if it’s all black and white I find myself looking at it way less. Android also has a setting for it here https://birchtree.me/blog/how-to-set-your-iphone-or-android-phone-to-black-and-white-and-why-its-a-fun-experiement/

recent mental health booster I stumbled onto when my phone ended up dead one morning, so I went to a cafe near me to journal/read for a couple hours without it. there were so many times I phantom reached for my it like the addict I am, very glad I couldn’t that day or else stupid things would have been done. I was forced to sit in the moment and process my thoughts without being able to actively do anything or contact anyone. did it the next day purposely and I had such a good day. leave your phone at home sometimes when you’re bumming around your area doing small errands! also forces you to learn your surroundings rather than relying on google maps.

cant 100% take credit, read this on pinterest years ago. when you start a journal, get a photo of you with the journal (I use instax photos but you can use the canon printer or print the photo etc) and paste it onto the first page, before the ruled lines. then when you finish the journal, take another photo with the journal and paste it on the last page. it’s a snapshot of you and your words at the beginning and end of its journey :)
