This is such a simple and lovely idea from Ida (@ambivalentkingdom on insta). It excited me so much that I immediately went out and bought the photo pocket binder sleeves. Great for ephemera collectors, concept development for artists, those who imbue sentimentality into every scrap of paper, people who still feel a twinge of heartbreak thinking about the stuffed animals they gave away as a child, and the Pinterest girlies who manically pin posts but never go back to look at their boards (me).  I think she’s right about our tactile needs.  Reminds me of this quote from an interview with Bill Callahan: “I think physical objects have a memory, and the physicality of things helps our brains to believe that the thing is real and potent.”

I went to my friend Matthew’s place years ago and he’d covered his walls in frames filled with small moments like a receipt from a first date, a number on a bar napkin, a hole in his wall – Years later, cities later, it’s my favorite way to fill my walls. I just picked up a crazy shadow box frame for a deck of cards I randomly got at David Blaine’s house one bizarre night last year.

Biiiiig fan of having a Place you always go, a Place where you’ve tried most things on the menu, a Place where you can recognize all the workers and almost have your punchcard fully filled out. A Place where you have a favorite booth and least favorite stool because it wobbles a little. if my life were a sitcom and they could only build so many sets, this Place would definitely be one of them

If you, like me, relive a memory until it becomes a part of you as surely as a bruise on your arm, blackout poetry may be for you! Took a landmark letter from a ways back and reduced, reused, recycled. Didn’t even have to write anything new! Pressed on my bruise for long enough, and the pain faded away. still left with my arm
