Fleshwater’s debut album, and one that has been in my head since I first discovered it a few months ago. Very soft-grunge, post-hardcore alternative rock/nu gaze. Very emo and a bit dream-like. Their songs sort of blend into one another in some really interesting ways, so it’s a great one to enjoy in one sitting if that’s how you enjoy listening, and it’s a relatively short album too. Some highlights for me are Linda Claire Enjoy, and Closet. Kiss the Ladder is great too.

Here are three! Wildly different vibes here, sorry for the whiplash Hospital Bracelet is Midwest emo, kinda angry, less romantic yearning. More like yearning for better things. wished bone is ethereal. I had super intense fever dreams to this album one time. pollinate me and spring time lover still have the power to stop me dead in my tracks. Medium Build just gets it. I listened to this album for the first time on a road trip to see the eclipse this last year and my partner was asleep in my lap. It made me tear up. Love love love

one of my fave dead-of-winter alt rock albums. melancholy guitar tone and sort of disconnected, disinterested vocals. my top tracks are window seat, smother and winter fog. i’ve also always just loved the album art. (the band’s old name was papergirl and they still appear as such on apple music).

Florist’s self-titled is gentle, sonically diverse, and poetic. ā€œSomeone told me once ’you better not let this pass’ Sometimes I think I have too many pasts So what do you think, should we just be here on the land? Listening to the sounds of life around us pass Careful not to tread on anything needing restā€ from ā€œFeathersā€ It’s a quiet, folky spirtualism. There are also these ambient, field recording-y interludes sandwiched between songs, and it’s so, so good.

I love that this is becoming more mainstream in recent years. It makes these animals vastly more interesting and complex than they already were. The connection between dinosaurs and birds feels all the more meaningful and apparent, and opens the door to interpreting their behavior and dynamics- we have their living relatives today to learn from. Also, it is cute.

If you mix tumeric powder with olive oil it makes a paste that you can put on the bite a couple times for like an hour. It is an anti-inflammatory and over a couple days should help pain and swelling. I think garlic has similar effects too!
