I literally can’t recommend this series enough!! It’s a sci-fi/necromancy series with a sapphic subplot, and the world building is actually phenomenal! So complex and detailed in every chapter 😭❤️ the second book is a space opera and is my favorite

omg I hadn’t read in years and all of a sudden I listened to this audiobook(amazing amazing voice actor) and have been reading ever since-I definitely recommend. /a man wakes up in a spaceship with no memory of how he got there…/
OR
The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas
if you’re feeling more historical-it’s very long but the revenge/romance/drama is unmatched and it kept me interested

clara gives empire of shadows by jacquelyn benson five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this was clara’s second time reading this book. she chose to listen to the excellent audiobook narrated by alex picard.
clara loves this series and thinks everyone should pick it up. a lot of books are described as similar to the mummy but this is that and more. the book’s setting of british hondurus is well researched and despite being 450 pages, the book is well paced and never feels like it drags.
clara loves ellie and adam and recommends this book to everyone.

everything i am, everything i like and value in life is in direct opposition to how i was raised! small town cool kids are much cooler than big town kids, all the odds were against us and we had to fight for our own identities. plus, we grew up around trees 🌳🍃
