death grips 😳 i think it’s interesting how it is possible to categorize people on whether or not they write in lowercase or uppercase, and to be so brutally honest, in all casual and unacademic scenarios, uppercase fucking pisses me OFF. there is no need for you, a nineteen year old boy with fucking frosted highlights and some rick owen’s adjacent jockstrap to text ā€œ Like thisā€. but i digress i love linguistics - and i love poetry, i love literary elements - i love repetition and i like how within the word repetition the vowels repeat themselves. i love language, i love speaking, i love how the meaning of words changes depending on yes..its connotation, but also the connotation from the spelling itself isn’t that so fucking cool? example ) 🟄 you’re a fucking bitch 🟩 your a fucking bitch 🟦 You’re a fucking bitch. a) connotation is still aggressive, but the words feel ( on the basis of their spelling, specifically that they are lowercase ) less serious than they would otherwise b) given it has the wrong ā€œyourā€, meaning is once again devolved from its original intention based on its failure in correct grammar c) shit is getting SERIOUS babe. contains all the hallmarks for a legitimate intention and drives this intention in a way that fully encapsulates the frustration i dunno. i’m super duper hungry and would go feral for a hamburger right now

Ahhhhhhhh the linguistic link between capitalization and punctuation and seriousness is such a cool one to me!! Especially because it's something that really only exists for generations that grew up with the technology, if you've ever gotten a horrifying text from like a parent that says like... Come see me. And it's literally just like. your mom wants to chat about what you want for dinner? It's because it's all socially constructed and some people just Don't have that socialization! It's so cool! I for one just keep my auto caps on, I feel like I'm in the clear as long as I never use a period at the end of a sentence even though I use them in the Middle of my sentences for pacing lol OOH THAT'S ANOTHER ONE, the use of "lol" and "lmao" AS PUNCTUATION in order to convey a sense of friendliness or casualness (or humor as originally intended) Sorry for the text wall! I'm a ling major so I Love talking about this stuff lol

my autocaps is turned on but i like to switch it up…it keeps people guessing and i use it unconsciously as a tone indicator lmao. I used to be really in my head about how if I didn’t start my sentences with a silly little capital letter i wouldn’t be perceived as a Man, and there’s plenty of guys with a more fragile masculinity than me, so I’m sure that plays a part in why so many young guys have theirs turned on.

you’re onto something here… there’s this interesting mixture of a relaxed texting structure melded in with elements of a profoundly knowledgeable but cool friend explaining smtg to you. unserious but also occasionally academic? idk, it ebbs & flows, but i feel that you can instinctually pick up on it the more you use the app– a new dialect of sorts

meaning, though ever out of our grasp, can be a playful thing if u let it. the fact the undulating tones of mandarin to the soft plosives of french are all made with the same tools- our THROATSšŸ’œ what an amazing thing speech is and no i dont care if ur a chomskyite or foucalt follower the simple flow of words and sounds enlightenes me enough. speaking clearly and intelligently brings me great joy. recently ive been saying splendifirous a lot because it resembles the cousin of love, ' carbioniferious'( as in the ecological epoch) and because its jsut sooo much fun to say. love to proclaim, love to articulate <3

I've been told that people in the army do more by 7:00 AM than I do in an entire day, but if I wake at 6:59 AM and turn to you to trace the outline of your lips with mine, I will have done enough and killed no one in the process. - 6:59 AM by Shane Koyczan we take love for granted, and i do more than anyone. i find it so beautiful that there is one pair of flesh and bones and eyes and a mouth that truly do belong at the top of the hierarchy. she is perfection and love in itself, and i remind myself that to be stagnant to unproductive may never be my fate if my day is long spent loving her.

i forgot my headphones at home. i was about to either 1) pump black country new road 2) watch brooklyn 99. i miss being passionate about things, not being able to sleep, eat, speak, or fathom anything beyond the apple of my eye and the fruit of my thoughts. i miss waking up with one thing in mind, how i would explore it that day, and how i would explore it the next it’s been people it’s been sewing guitar driving religion philosophy photography writing filming blogging i think, regardless of any tik tok data explosion with the intention of ripping out each of my brain cells to keep me submissive and docile because of a wrecked attention span, i’m not a girl of her commitments- i get bored. and i am bored. i feel this lack of passion so deeply in my body, its been a catalyst for the recent crashouts ive had ( and there’s been plenty) i don’t know how to stay, and work hard, and allow myself to grow to what i want to be right in this instance. not to shine my own shoes, but i’m not super used to being bad at things. i’ve always always always coasted, and now that im trying to be a gaf (give a fuck) filled girl, ive realized, sucking at something hurts a lot more when you’ve put in the work to be good at it. if it wasn’t me writing this, and my best friend called me and told me this word for word, i would tell her how normal that feeling was, and that she herself knew what to do; commit. and that is my advice, dear sweet amalia, commit, commit, commit.
