Roughly an hour outside of New Orleans there’s a place called Abita Mystery House. Park yourself on the corner and enter through the gas station.
John Preble started this place a while back under the name UCM Museum. It’s basically a collection of antiques, oddities, and folk art of various kinds. It’s full of buttons to press and games to play and Preble made the place all on his own!
It is a beautiful show of imagination and decadence full of weird and wonderful art projects and archive.
The best part is the neighbor‘s cat will accompany you the whole time and likely let you pick her up and hold her like an infant.

absolutely gorgeous museum she built to house her personal art collection that has potential to be sooo spooky and romantic on a rainy day. you can see Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, Manet, Degas, Matisse, and more!! and there was an unsolved heist here in the 90s and they got away from $500 million worth of art. how do ppl do that… kind of kooky…
anyway, go and get burrito from El Pelon or burger from Tasty Burger after!!

The vines are consuming fire hydrants and power lines and stop signs and every gust of wind is filling the air with a delicious magnificent jasmine scent and I feel delirious and reborn and glad to be alive

This is something that I started doing last year and they are now fundamentally important to me.
A dessert walk is an after dinner stroll you take ideally during sunset. You walk to a grocery store and buy a sweet treat or piece of fruit and a fun beverage. For me usually a peach and a kombucha. You walk for a bit as the sun sets and return when your treats are consumed.
A delicious end to your evening that helps you digest.
