this album has so many good songs on it; the fluidity and clarity of his voice was what first drew me into his music. the instruments and production of this album are *mwuah* this album is what introduced me to jazz.
specifically two records: chet baker sings and baby breeze. such a distinctive, loving voice, sounds like he's crooning into my ears, right next to my face . . . trumpet licks are fire, it's great I had a phase where this is all I listened to, relistening to his discog has been a real treat
i'm a huge jazz enthusiast especially if it's from the swing era, and this album is exactly that. the song tangerine has been a favourite of mine forever, but i had never listened to its full album until today and i am so glad i did. i beg you to give this absolute gem a listen. it'll do you so much good. big band jazz is a gift from god.
i hope you are well, friend.
taking and looking back at pictures, with the sudden hit of nostalgia will always make me feel human. idk what it is but looking at a physical image of what you took (what your life used to be like) somewhat grounds you in a way.
this movie will forever have a special place in my heart. i read an essay about it two months ago that completely changed my prescriptive on old western hollywood films (i linked the article if youβre interested)
