finally got around to watching the original season last week and it's basically ALL I've been thinking about since. Incredible piece of television. Perfect casting. No one could make dialogue like that sing like McConaughey, and some of the greatest expressions ever recorded were made by Harrelson for this show. I now have the overwhelming urge to go uncover a deep decades-old conspiracy. Let me know if anyone wants to form an uneasy but undeniably effective partnership that lasts longer than any romantic entanglement.

Aaaaahhhh such a good, detective show on max, Matthew McConaughey plays a disheveled detective who is haunted by his past, and is deemed the odd one in the police station of the small town in Louisiana. There is murdered with religious imagery that send him into a spiral to crack the case.

Had no clue until recently that it existed (i was 12 when it came out, still watching Hannah Montana n shit) but I just finished the first season AND MAN….the writing is so good. One of the best southern gothic depictions of recent history. Matthew and Woody are some of the best depictions of cop partnerships you’ll ever see on screen. AND MISS MATTHEW!!! With that closure wig!!! SHOULD. HAVE. WON. THAT. EMMY.

Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle <3 okay but besides him, the whole season is very evocative of Mindhunter (which i would also rec) and Ethel Cain’s “Preacher’s Daughter." it’s a perfect show and i just finished it and i'm heart broken

I'm not obsessed with it but it's always sweet when the barista does something cool. This one yesterday made me smile because after seeing a few others I realised the guy was doing Pokémon! Fairly certain mine is mew or Mewtwo, I saw him do a horsea, pikachu, and squirtle too...

Koudelka was a photographer who documented Europe from the 60s onwards, recording the lives of travelling people, Soviet invasions, struggles with poverty, and more. He later became a member of the Magnum society and continued his work into old age. If you have the time, it's really worth digging into his work as he had a real eye for striking images that provide a lot of context for the situation he was in. He used to travel with very little besides a sleeping bag and camera so he often experienced the harsher side of life while on the job. At times his photos were smuggled out of the soviet borders, and published anonymously, to keep him safe. Check the link for a good starting point on Magnum's website!
