I do not associate working out with any sort of emotional release. If anything it might be a meditative thing? Because of this I do not listen to angry music or anything like that either. I have earbuds in maybe 30% of the time I’m in the gym. My friends and strangers have called me a psychopath for this, but I think I just have a strong internal monologue and enjoy people watching. Anyways, when I do listen to music, it is usually wholly inappropriate for the situation. Sometimes the contradiction is what I enjoy the most about it. Today I listened to Ethel’s Carpet Bed, which I had not heard yet. Great little EP, not sure if I have a favorite as there are only 4 tracks that blend pretty smoothly together. The weird tradcath lifter stereotype that has infected our youth kinda reminds me of her heavy religious tones, so maybe it wasn’t as inappropriate as it seemed. Listen to something weird at the gym, achieve hypertrophy, vibe out.

Turns out they aren't lying when they say it helps Especially when you're listening to Silent Hill soundtracks Seriously, I've never been more hyped to do planks in my life

depending on the kind of work i find instrumental sounds to be best , especially if there’s a rhythm i can lock into . there is love in you by four tet is a classic that i listened to a lot in uni , great tones for working steadily the book about my idle plot on a vague anxiety by toe is also full of beautifully circular but forward moving rhythms & songs , would be good if you’re into emo kinda math rock suicide season by bring me the horizon is in a different direction but sometimes i just love having a lot of noise going on while i'm working , every time i die albums & garden of delete are good for this too last suggestion is just taking one song that’s been stuck in your head & listening to it 100+ times on repeat until it becomes meditative & almost meaningless & continue until your work is done … did this a lot for last minute essay writing

Make chicken that dries out your entire body ! Make soup that sits in your stomach in the worst way possible ! Screw up pasta so badly that the Italian government declares it a hate crime ! Then next time you make these things make them slightly less awful ! I learn by doing and fucking up and doing again, and as long as something is gained from a disaster, it is not a disaster in vain.

The sun is shining, the world is alive and functioning, it isn’t even 11:00 and I’ve been moving for 4 hours now. In my laziness I had forgotten how this type of freedom feels.
