I’ve been thoroughly enchanted by the warmth and fullness of sound from these KLH Model 6 speakers from the early 60s and the 1970s Pioneer SX-780 receiver. Picked both up from Facebook marketplace and it’s been a total treat for the ears. Show me yours! I can’t enough of this stuff ( I also have a raspebrry pi with a DAC running moode audio so I can also send amy music to it from my phone via airplay or Spotify connect, also sounds fantastic)

ol reliable here has stayed with me through FOUR cross country moves, gonna upgrade eventually but it gets the job done. the needle is held on with painters tape. forgive the galaxy print slipmat I got it in middle school. audiophiles don’t even start with me, I have great speakers (tower speakers from the 80s my dad gave me) and an audio degree. this setup is totally fine and I will fight you

I have 4 cassettes and nothing to play them on. I’m building my collection until the ole 440 is mine. I try to curb my nostalgia based preferences but I’ll let it take root for this one. That display is too sick

Any Bill Evans Trio album, particularly LIVE AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD. Floating Points albums including his remarkable collaboration of Pharaoh Sanders. Dawn of MIDI if you want something a little more angular and abstract.

I think yes mossyelfie has it right - small deeds, connect with your local community and friends, reach out and connect with people when you can. We are all in this together, to varying extents. That being said, it is really really bad. Unprecedented. If you’re in the US, I would also say that reaching out to your representatives and state AG is important. They are the ones we’ve elected to protect and defend the constitution on our behalf, and we have to support and empower them to do their jobs, but there is no question it’s going to be hard. I also thoroughly recommend being intentional about drawing barriers. Set time aside to stop scrolling, read a book, go for a walk and remember the world is still beautiful. Nature continues on. The world keeps turning.

Highly recommend the usage of this great memory extraction method I’ve invented because I’ve been there. very much. Here’s how it works. Get yourself some nice English breakfast tea bags. Yorkshire gold if you can, but it’ll work ok if you can’t. Boil some water. put the tea bag in the cup, add the boiling water to the cup with the tea bag. Let it sit for about 4 minutes then give it a stir and remove the tea bag. Get some fresh milk, add a dollop to the cup. Take the cup and go and sit in the most comfortable place in your house. Pop the radio on. I recommend BBC Radio 3 or Radio 4. Close your eyes. Breathe. As Melvyn Bragg drones on about some obscure pre-Raphelite or whilst the dulcet tones of Mahler’s second symphony luxuriate in your ears, sip the tea. Let the warmth soothe your calloused memory, dissolving it until it is ether and drifting indistinctly between your synapses. Exhale And it’s gone. Either that or just say something else embarrassing and fixate on thar for a bit. Either works.
