i read this novel last year. it had a big impact on me and quickly became one of my favorites. itās about a man who decides to leave his privileged life/family in favor of living an ascetic life as a fisherman on a river in Tennessee. its description of alcoholism and being black-out drunk has stuck with me, and thereās a scene describing a bar fight thatās so theatrical. generally though i appreciate how this protagonistās isolated lifestyle is told through the details of his life - i just thought the book was so beautifully written, funny, sadā¦ i read his novel Outer Dark after this one and it was OK but Suttree rules.
