no more gatekeeping! i love when someone asks me where i got something. even if i've thrifted it or a someone else gave it to me. i will figure out what the tag says. if im wearing it i will do all the twisting and turning to read it.
sharing is caring and honestly there are too many things in this world for people to be gatekeeping
found this meme that I tweaked to better fit the convo I had just had with @WORLDONFIRE. I don’t like gatekeeping, but I don’t see fast fashion or buying from TikTok as being ethical or beneficial for anyone. it’s convenient, but the quality isn’t great, and imo, it doesn’t feel as rewarding as thrifting/diying. felt like this needed to be its own rec <3
Picking out a piece that has already been loved by someone else and making it your own is so rewarding and special. One of my favorite ways to make my style personal.
my coworkers say my orange telfar medium sized bag has kind of become a signature of mine. which is neat! but its covered in scuff marks and ink stains and has a misshapen bottom.
here’s the thing though: i honestly love the bag more as it looks more worn. it has a story that’s intertwined with my own story.
being put together and clean and neat and polished is fun (trust me, im a virgo). but the people in life who compel me the most are those who look rooted in their essence and can tell a story about everything they’ve got on. someone with their own unique swag that they have curated over time. tell me about the scuff mark on your boots. or your lucky necklace with three stones missing. or the flowers you painted on your jeans that are now fading. i live for it!
