🗝I generally don’t cry often, so my tears somehow feel like a precious resource. A resource I like to spend on beautiful words, or hard thoughts, or collections of music and images that make me feel something.
I cried at the end of a really good book last night. It felt like paying homage to the author, to the story of suffering that had been told. An acknowledgement of the hardship and triumph told over just a few hundred pages.
Or the other week, I cried because I realised how hard it is for me to ask for help, and I allowed myself to mourn that loss - the opportunities for connection, for honesty, that I don’t even allow people that are close to me to make. I wrote about three pages in my journal about those years, because I know I want to change that about myself. I can be sad about it, but I still want to move on.
The point is, I hope you let yourself cry sometimes, because I think there is something in everyone’s life that deserves a few tears every now and then.

💧Superior to shower crying by a million. Way more vulnerable and really emphasizes the pitiful and tragic aspect of it. Also, there’s literally toilet paper right there for your snot and tears!!! Not to mention the dimensions of it like you can get out some powerful sobs sitting with a hunched back…. think about it.

📍Log off Amazon prime and step into the real world. Go to a local physical store in your community. Look your neighbor in the eye and put money in their hand.
Go to a local venue and hear what musicians in your community are creating. Talk to them about it afterwards. Buy a T-shirt or cd or whatever they’re selling, they’ll make more money from that than from thousands of streams. Seriously, Spotify pays a fraction of a penny per stream.
Forget about Starbucks. Check out a local coffee shop instead. Learn your barista’s name and tip them.
Go to your local book store and library. Look around and see what book covers catch your eye. Ask employees for recommendations instead of just reading whatever’s trending on #booktok.

When you go local, you see your community in a new way. You make friends and feel more connected to the people around you.
You will discover new things organically instead of relying on an algorithm. You keep your money circulating in your community instead of making billionaires richer. You will have a greater appreciation for where you live.
