it feels so empowering to walk around wearing ethnic clothes in a ‘modern’ city where the standard fashion is deeply influenced by the west. i will always love u, sarees <3
also, this is my mum’s saree, and many sarees are heirlooms passed down in the family. it’s quite literally, wearing your culture, carrying the stories of your ancestors with you!
maybe this is why i like thrifted clothes lol
chills,,,literal chills
also you should read this messynessychic article about hobble skirts, like just look that up. its a fascinating account of fashion history as well as beauty standard, the coke bottle, etc etc
In a world of mass consumption and fast fashion, upon researching some pretty niche designers, there is a subsect of artisanal fashion designers that make clothes that look like they are from the 1800's. Fully hand made, its awesome. Check out the link for a spreadhseet on all these designers. It took me forever to make lol
I’m on an instagram break plus I like you guys more so please enjoy this painting I am proud of. Referencing Bosch‘s garden of earthly delights, specifically the third “Hell” panel ❤️🔥 acrylic and gouache on raw canvas!
