For a pro singer in that era, his voice isn't amazing, so it's schmeared with tape doubling & room verb, but he had the absolute best arrangements. Ass shakers abound - "Lollipop" is incredible, & it's no wonder Daft Punk lifted "Cola Bottle Baby" when Sony gave them carte blanche to the corporate back catalogue.
Not a fan of Fagan and Becker as people but god do I love their music. It’s hard to pick one of their albums but I picked CTE because of the songs ”Bodhisattva”, “Razor boy”, and “King of the world” just because of how well produced and played they are. If you ask me I’d say Jeff Baxter is the star of this album, love that guy. If you haven’t listened to Steely Dan‘s discography I totally understand it’s not for everyone but I would still recommend you check it out just to see if theres something for you.
