This song came on a cooking playlist the Spotify algorithm made for me when I was making Gigi hadid pasta last night. My parents used to play it a lot when I was a kid in our kitchen. Very Burlington vermont alternative 2000s radio station. Gave me such a melancholy twisted up pang in my chest but I also can’t get enough. Something about the piano in this track is soooo my dad working freelance from his desk made out of a door on sawhorses during the recession.

This is my favorite song in the world. I remember what I was doing when I first heard it. I was making necklaces in my basement and I think this was in the summer of 2021. Sometimes I feel like it hits too close to home because I never get over anything and I’m pretty sure I’ll be living in my parents house forever. Despite that unfortunate reality, this song has yet to lose its magic. This song will always be my favorite.

My dad gifted me this CD when I was around 6-7, loved it as a kid (I always listened to it while falling asleep) and then completely forgot about it in my teens. I rediscovered Pat Metheny at a jazz festival at 20 and now I’m in love again!

This song always used to play at my single-mother’s workplace, where I spent a lot of time as a wee gal. This song used to make me transcend and still does tbh. I feel so cool when I’m listening, like I’m walking Rick Owens during FFW. I spent a lot of time not knowing this song because it would make me physically ill when I heard it, the amount of nostalgia it would elicit in me. Life is too short to be weighed down by an appreciation of the past, look at it lovingly and with hope for an even better future.

In the running for probably my favorite book of all time. I wanted to be Anne so bad when I read this book for the first time when I was eleven. Since then I have reread this probably five or six times. The ultimate springtime read — makes you cool with being alive again . My copy is from 1968 and basically ripped in half. If you have a tendency to be a miserable bitch who feels sorry for themselves you need some Anne pronto. I will never watch the show or movie because the book is so perfect in my little mind I don’t want anything to ruin it. PEI is my ultimate destination.

I’ve famously always said June should be the first month of the year. It is when the year truly begins. I’m not even awake or paying attention to anything until the sun starts setting past eight. The anticipation of summer is over but you still have the whole thing in front of you.
