as an aside , this came at exactly the right time for me as i was getting into ayaâs nts show (specifically her mish mosh get a wash episodes) & she was just interviewed on my fave music podcast no tags. both of which i also highly recommend.

What if the entire Splice library was launched into the ether, prompting a Pokemon-esque scavenger hunt to catch âem all? This is what ear pulls off. And yet, the duoâs voices are the best instruments in the mix. Chopped notes and cheeky whispers and sharp breaths abound in their latest singles, âFetishâ and âValley Serpent.â A cut-and-sew craft project of a song, âFetishâ shows impressive restraint for as long as possible before mutating multiple times. Itâs not just a glazed ambient track, or bass-boosted electronic, or .5 speed breakcore. The disjointed lyrics are hypnotically aphasic, as if having a stroke could be a beautiful experience. âValley Serpentâ has the same structureless setup, shrouding a poignant piano ballad in blown-out artificial noise. For all they add, they know when to get minimal. The gentle recitation âfeels like a burdenâ is scripted to haunt. The most Lynchian release of the year!

depending on the day of the week, (usually a random wednesday on which i feel the more ravenously coveted releases of SAW vol. 1&2 can be overlong and at times unwieldy), drukqs is to me the most evocative distillation of aphexâs predilection for acid-break brutalizations and madcap sonic textures.
it is, somehow, one of the albums i return to most and yet one of the last iâd ever recommend to a sane individual â and ironically, one of the worst to listen to while stoned. i canât vouch for it enough

â˛ď¸itâs the perfect length for me to watch after work , i can start a movie at 11 or even 12 & get to bed at the (mostly) reasonable hour of 1:30 at the latest . sometimes i will extend this to 100 or 110 min if iâm feeling indulgent or ambitious .
i could watch an hour of tv but this gives me a whole story in only a little bit more time .
