U sound like exactly my kind of complainer. This is completely legitimate and you clearly know your stuff.

i open at work a lot, i’m a barista at a coffee shop inside a fancy ish food market which is basically just an upscale cafeteria for business people who are too hip for sweetgreen. we’re the only booth that opens before 11 am here! and there are only 4 of us baristas now, there used to be more but recent drama has resulted in some serious jumping ship. it really just means our opener options went from 4 to 2, so i come in at 6:50 am a lot more. i’ve been getting to know the morning crowd better and better, i feel quite close to 8 oz americano, he always wishes me a good day, 12 oz iced chai with whole milk and a blueberry muffin is always kind as well, and oat milk flat white (except for one time he was 16 oz cold brew, we both laughed at that) smiles when he sees me.  i like to be the smiley barista they get to have a minimal morning chat with, and plus i feel cool saying “just the usual?”

I’ve been documenting my bad barista performance. I honestly enjoy this more than latte art

"separating the art from the artist" is a privileged ass take and doesn't exist. what people create is representative of how theyve interacted with the world thus far. what the world has done to them, what others have done to them, what theyve learned from others, what theyve done to others, how theyve navigated life with what theyve been given or with what theyve taken. if you deny that the nude portraits drawn by the hand of a sexual predator are a bastardised version of reality based on his perspective and experience of violence against women then you would also deny the experience of indigenous artists in their depictions of brutality in the face of colonialism or that a single stroke in a painting created by a Black artist holds the weight of going through life in america while being black. when consuming art, media, anything created by human hands/minds you must also be conscious of the creators lived experience, wether its negative or positive, if you want to make an accurate assessment on the art itself dont live and consume in ignorance
